FormsPal PDF Chat. Last updated July 17, 2026.
The short version: your document is processed to answer your questions and then deleted. It is not stored long term, and it is not used to train AI models. You do not need an account to use the free tool.
What we process, and why
When you open a PDF, we process it for one purpose: to answer the questions you ask about it. To do that:
- Your file is held briefly on our server only to hand it to our AI provider, then the local copy is deleted.
- The file and your questions are sent to Anthropic's API, which generates the answers and the citations.
- Your conversation stays in your browser for the session. We do not save your chat history on our servers.
How long we keep your document
We do not keep your documents. The temporary copy on our server is removed as soon as it has been passed to the AI service. The copy held by the AI service for the session is deleted when your session ends, which is when you open a new document or after about an hour of inactivity, whichever comes first.
Not used to train AI models
Documents and questions you send are processed by Anthropic's API under its commercial API terms and are not used to train models.
Who else processes your data
- Anthropic: runs the AI that reads your document and writes the cited answers.
- Google Cloud: hosts the service.
- Stripe: only for members. We check, with a read-only key, whether your FormsPal account has an active subscription. We never see or store card details.
Cookies and sign-in
We store a single preference in your browser: your light or dark theme choice. We do not set advertising or tracking cookies.
If you are already signed in to your FormsPal account, your existing FormsPal session cookies are sent with your request. We use them only to confirm you are signed in (by validating them against FormsPal's own servers) and to look up your subscription status. We do not create a separate login for PDF Chat.
Members
To grant subscriber limits, we validate your FormsPal session and use your account email to check with Stripe (read only) whether you have an active subscription. Free visitors are handled anonymously.
Where processing happens
Processing takes place in the United States.
Your choices and contact
You control what you upload, and you can stop at any time by closing the tab or opening a new document. For any privacy question, email support@formspal.com. This page describes the specifics of PDF Chat; the full binding policy is the FormsPal Privacy Policy.
